Hello and welcome! I’m Dr. Janice Mao, and I’m happy you’re here. Whether you’re experiencing physical discomfort or seeking guidance on fertility, pregnancy, hormonal health, or other aspects of your health and well-being, I’m here to provide compassionate, comprehensive care that honors you as a whole person.
I am a California board-certified healthcare practitioner with both a Doctorate and a Master of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine. I’m also proud to represent the third generation of doctors in my family, spanning both Western and Chinese medicine.
I specialize in women’s reproductive health and am dedicated to supporting individuals through all stages of their reproductive journeys. I also treat a range of hormonal and endocrine conditions, digestive disorders, emotional health concerns, and acute and chronic pain. With a foundation in evidence-based medicine, I believe in the power of integrative medicine. My approach draws on the strengths of both conventional and complementary therapies to create personalized care plans that address the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of health.
I practice primarily at the UCSF Osher Center for Integrative Health. I also see a small number of patients through my private practice in Noe Valley, where appointment availability is limited.
I’ve called San Francisco home for over 20 years. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, being outdoors among the trees and by the ocean, working on art and design projects, and doing my best to answer all of life’s questions from my very inquisitive 9-year-old daughter.
